Jasper Kozacek

Jasper Kozacek is a traditional woodworker whose passion lies in preserving the techniques, tools, and craftsmanship of the 1800s. Using period-accurate hand tools, he creates everything from hand-hewn logs and structural timbers for historic buildings to finely crafted furniture, including intricate veneer sewing boxes.

As a volunteer historical Woodwright at Billie Creek Village in Rockville, Indiana, Jasper demonstrates the skills that early craftsmen relied on every day. Working alongside the Billie Creek staff, he is helping relocate and restore an 1876 two-room home that will become the village’s Woodwright House. One room will serve as a working woodworking shop, while the other will be furnished as a historically accurate living space.

Throughout the restoration, Jasper is crafting window sashes, doors, hand-hewn sill logs, and other architectural elements using only the traditional hand tools and methods of the period. His work not only preserves historic structures but also keeps the knowledge and artistry of traditional woodworking alive for future generations.

Jasper documents the restoration process, woodworking demonstrations, and local history on his YouTube channel, where viewers can follow the progress of the Woodwright House and learn more about historic woodworking techniques.

Whether creating fine furniture or restoring pieces of Indiana’s past, Jasper is committed to sharing the beauty, skill, and history of traditional woodworking with the community.
